Revised in Quietness

Having been altered or corrected; reconsidered or amended. That's what that word means. There's a process put in place when 'revisions' are being made. Every writer knows this. We revise and revise and revise until the work feels good to us! The same is true of our lives, ya know! Revisions are happening right now - in every individual's life. Some of the revisions are on display daily. Some we can only catch here and there. Others we're not seeing so much of at all, but they're happening. All of these processes are not just valid, but very very needful! We've been forced to look at life, God and the world differently. For myself, I've been sitting with what's really important? What really matters in the entire scheme of things? What is all of this about?

I've heard a lot and seen a lot in quietness. Quietness has afforded me rest, in times of turmoil and distress. Quietness has given me joy in times of sorrow. Quietness has given me peace in the midst of chaos. Quietness has given me laughter in the midst of endless tears. Quietness has helped me to say less and listen more. Quietness has been taken for granted because we've been programmed to believe that we must always be doing. Just being is just as essential as the why of doing. Quietness has allowed me to see that more clearly, more deeply. Quietness has allowed my no to be no and my yes to be yes. And what I have discovered just by being honest amidst all that is uncertain - Quietness has also become a trusted friend to many of my trusted friends. We won't all come out on the other side the same way, but I'm almost certain that we'll truly be revised!
