Emulating vs. Copycat Spirit

Emulate (positive): to strive to equal or excel; imitate; match or surpass

Copycat (negative): a person who copies another's behavior, dress, or ideas; denoting an action, typically a crime, carried out in imitation of another.

Emulate Christ - John 13:15 - "I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you." This is the level of 'imitation' we are called to. Our words, actions, deed, motives should 'emulate' Christ. This is not only the better way to move and show up in the earth, but it's right. There is also a difference between imitating someone and becoming a copycat.

A copycat doesn't necessarily look like a copycat all the time. Because God is no respecter of persons, He very well CAN (and does) give more than one person a vision/burden/desire to do certain things; however, NO TWO PEOPLE will ever do them the exact same way. There's a reason behind that too - UNIQUENESS!!!

But here's where the copycat spirit gets exposed each and every time - HEART AND MOTIVE! And while they may not 'think' those things are seen, they are. Not just seen, but felt and heard too! When God gives you something that is true for you - it looks and sounds a particular way, but mostly unique to 'Who He is and who you are'. You live in this thing, you live out this thing, you are passionate about this thing, it flows easily through you, you don't need to look to other people's ideas and ways of doing it because God has made the vision just that clear 'to you'.

So while there may be copycats all around us, know that only what we truly do for Christ will last. Things will either prosper or they won't. Stay focused. *Be not easily distracted or offended when you see it*. Stay the course. Stick to 'your' assignment and what you know God has graced and called you to do. That's how God gets the glory out of your life! xo
