How You Know You're Doing What God Called You To Do....

For some, that probably comes across as a very loaded statement. Trust me, you're not alone. It is LOADED - with every 'good and perfect gift' that comes from above!

I've tried my hand at a few things in life and they've all made my life that much more full, rich and fruitful: Dance (acting and singing come with this schooling whether you want to do it or not. You'll be graded on what you do, not how perfectly you do it), piano/organ (well, this turned out to be more of a hobby for my Aunt than me. I 'danced' my music), cheerleading, drill team, a little law, some medical schooling, a tad of psychology and now writing. I've actually 'always' done writing though. You can ask any one of my family members or close friends growing up - they've received countless letters from me through the years. Writing is 'what we do'.

But how do you know if you're 'called' to a particular area in life?

  1. You'll be good enough at it that people will notice. I've been asked over and over, 'When are you writing a book?' For so long I've just laughed it off....until now.

  2. You'll have a real burning passion for it. Writing is so much of 'who I am'. I've allowed people to call me 'teacher' because I know that's how they receive my writing mostly. It comes across to them in teaching mode. I'll take that title. :)

  3. It will bring God glory. This is the most important reason to do ANYTHING you do in life. Your gift isn't just 'your gift'. He gave it to you freely, but what you do with it matters. How you honor Him with it shows exactly where your heart is. Honoring Him with it will also cause Him to bring you before great men - causing them to give unto your bosom....to overflowing! *Don't believe me? Keep watching* ;-)

See, it's really not hard to know what you're called to do. You do it more often than not, but it's probably so much of a part of 'who you are' - that you don't realize that's your calling. That's the area you were created and designed to flourish in. Pay attention to what you do, why you do it, how it burns on the inside of you and how you feel when you can't do it. Those things are very telling! xoxo
