"Occupy!" Luke 19:13

When I started out on this writing journey, this word came to me - occupy. I've read the account in Luke 19 quite a few times, but more recently, I read it with new eyes. It's not 'just about works, gifts, and callings, but the truth of God's Word - the Gospel and our faithfulness to it and what that meant (means) for man-kind.

Jesus was going away. He was leaving the disciples. He was going to die the death of the crucifixion and no longer be a physical part of this natural world, BUT His desire was (is) that His Kingdom would still thrive. He expected the work that He started to continue - be light, speak the Truth, hold fast to sound doctrine, repent and be saved, hold tight to the faith, endure till the end - all this in the face of adversity, wickedness, deception, manipulation, fear and the likes. What does that look like? What does it feel like?

I can say of this newfound revelation - it has not been comfortable. This entire season (over a whole year now) hasn't been comfortable. There's been a shift in the atmosphere, an uneasiness on the inside, and frustration because of what is seen, heard, and being made known. In light of all of these things, the Kingdom must still adance. When I consider the gates of hell not prevailing against the Church - I also understand that it's going to try. The gates of hell are going to unleash its fury, but not in a way that lets people know it's hell and it's here- at least not all at once. It'll be subtle, appealing, cloaked in what looks to be helpful, yet, very deceptive. Jesus said, 'the thief comes only to kill, steal and destroy....'. Most would automatically think He's referring to the enemy of our souls - the devil. Read again! Jesus is referring to men (overtaken by the devil)...who lead and are in authority! *Lord, give us eyes to see, ears to hear, and minds to discern*

How well are we occupying? Occupying as a citizen of heaven, as the man or woman of Christ, as people of light who bear Truth? The Master is sooner to come than when we first believed. Will we be ready?
