Set The Atmosphere

I'm sure no two parents raise their children exactly the same as other parents. Ok, I'm actually sure of this. For instance, the way my mother raised my brothers and I was a little different than the way my husband and I are raising our boys. My mother was a single mom for the majority of my life. She worked from sun up to sun down to make sure she had enough to provide for us and herself. She even went to school to further herself in her career so she could make more money to be able to provide for us. We didn't miss a beat either! Yes, we still had to be in before the street lights came on when we were under-age, yes, we had to make sure our homework was finished BEFORE she came home from work, yes, we had to make sure our house chores were done BEFORE she came home from work. Oh did I say house chores? See, right there is where 'our children' would say, "What is that?" Ahahahah I know, I know - SPOILED!!! Indeed they are. Can't deny it, they are DEEPLY LOVED!!! Oh, you said SPOILED? Yes, same difference! LOL

The difference shows up in our actual home though. Their father is here - day in and day out. I can speak from personal experience that that makes a HUGE difference in a child's life. And not that their father is just here, but he's a very 'active, loving, supportive and exemplary part of their lives'. THAT MATTERS!! They actually get to see what a man is, what a man loving their mommy looks like, what two people building a life together for them feels like. I'm even enjoying watching all of this unfold for them. Thoroughly enjoying it because I strongly believe that this is the way God intended it from the beginning. I believe His plan for the family consists of one man, one man, and their children - living in such a way that when people look on the family unit - they see HIM! Is that always easy to accomplish? No! But we strive for it. Our desire, above all else, is to make God's heart proud in this family unit. I honestly think we're doing an incredible job....at least most of the time. The Holy Spirit hasn't convicted otherwise! :) But there is always room for improvement and growth and we're very open to that.

The way you Set The Atmosphere in your home says a lot about the type of people you are in general. Children know when they're loved and when they're just being tolerated. Children also know when two people are truly in love and when they're not. The temperature in the home speaks to that too. Make sure the temperature is not only right but honest. You want to be sowing the correct seeds into this next generation. You owe it to them and you to do that!
